We cordially invite you to join us for worship. We continue to offer Christian education and ministry services. We are part of a non-denominational fellowship of churches which seek to worship according to the teachings of Christ and his apostles as they established the church. We seek to be "Christians only." We recognize the authority of Jesus (Matthew 28:18) and therefore, do not recognize man-made creeds, traditions or power structures.

Spiritual Themes from 'The Shack'

“The Shack” is a bestselling fiction novel that has caused a great sensation - and a lot of controversy - in the Christian world. Some pastors are recommending it - others are banning it. July 12 - August 30th we will discuss some of the many reasons why many love it and others hate it. We will also discuss the many theological issues that the book touches upon. Although one does not have to read “The Shack” to attend or participate in the discussions, it will be beneficial to acquaint yourself with it.

We will not be studying “The Shack”. Rather, we will look at the issues and questions that it raises, and then examine the Bible for our answers. The class will be lively, and will deal with the controversial issues of the book. Be prepared to be engaged! This class will include “spoilers”. Join the ‘99 and Under’ class each week at 9:40 in their classroom upstairs.

Our Mission

Our mission remains winning the lost and leading Christians to serve their Lord in accordance with the teachings of the New Testament. We find it both humorous and tragic that when identifying ourselves as Christians, someone invariably asks, "What kind?" Can you imagine the apostles being asked that question? We seek to be Christians in the same way the first disciples were, without man-made teachings, traditions, names, denominational structures and so on. Over the years, a number of historic slogans have helped to express who we are and what we seek to accomplish: We are not the only Christians, but we are "Christians only." No creed but Christ, no book but the Bible. In essentials, unity. In opinions, liberty. In all things, love. Essentials are those commands, ordinances etc. specifically commanded by the Lord or His apostles. Beyond this, we recognize a variety of subjects on which there is no direct command of the Lord, hence, the right to freely hold one's own opinion (in opinions, liberty). Finally, we recognize that we must always relate to one another in love (remember the second greatest commandment?).

Clinical Counseling Center

The church offers an adjunct to ministerial counseling through our new Clinical Counseling Center.

Dr. Jo Christner will be providing confidential individual, couples and group therapy services.

Angel Food Ministries

is a non-profit,

non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief

to communities throughout the United States.

First Christian Church is an approved host of the Angel Food Ministry. The First Christian Church distribution site is located at the Somerset Junior High Cafeteria located along S. Columbia Ave. in Somerset.

Orders & payments (by cash, cashier’s checks, money orders or food stamps ONLY – no personal check accepted) can be placed at the church (please enter at the Court Avenue entrance) on the following dates and times:

July 10th: 11AM - 5PM

July 11th: 9AM- 11AM

No orders will be

accepted after July 11th

July orders can be picked up on Saturday, July 18th between 8 - 10 AM at the Somerset Junior High Cafeteria located on South Columbia Avenue in Somerset.

Please bring a large box or cooler to transport your food.
